ANTH 115 Language and the Human Experience
The goal of this course is to engage with foundational thinking in the fields of sociolinguistics and linguistic anthropology, and to involve students both in communicating these ideas to a broader public and in using them for original analysis. The course will survey the ways in which anthropologists have studied language, how they have engaged in linguistic analysis, and theories about the cultural production of language. Students will be introduced to methodologies in linguistic anthropology, and begin to think about their own potential research projects in this field.
