ENVS 430 Global Climate Change

Global climate change is both a geological feature of Earth’s 4.6 billion-year history as well as an anthropogenic global crisis for life on Earth and society as we know it in the 21st century. Students in this upper-level course will: investigate current evidence for global climate change, develop an understanding of the physical and biological basis of global warming impacts, actively present and discuss peer-reviewed literature weekly, and develop science communication skills. Coursework includes lectures, required reading, online research, investigating and understanding peer-reviewed literature, and the practice of scientific writing. Optional activities include guest speakers and field trips. Students are expected and encouraged to participate in class discussions, raise questions, and contribute to group-based work.
