PHIL 221 Environmental Ethics and Political Theory

This course examines the question of how we should treat the natural world as both individuals and citizens. In additional to examining various claims about our ethical obligations to the environment, this course will also look at how the various political systems address environmental problems and solutions. This course is intended to introduce students to a variety of ethical and political approaches to the environment and to aid them in developing their own viewpoints. Because environmental ethics is a part of applied ethics, students will research regional environmental issues and apply the theories they study to this issue.
