All students who graduate from Antioch College are expected to have quantitative literacy at the college level. There are two quantitative requirements: the minimum quantitative requirement (pre-college), and the quantitative (Q) requirement (college). Testing for mathematics course placement takes place immediately before the beginning of the first study term on campus during orientation. When placed into MATH 090, students must successfully complete the course within their first three academic terms, typically in the Fall term of their first year. Students cannot continue to further mathematics courses without completing this course.
Students may complete the Minimum Quantitative Requirement in the following ways:
- Place at any level higher than MATH 090 on the mathematics placement test
- Successfully complete MATH 090 (grade of P)
- Complete coursework at another institution that would meet the Minimum Quantitative Requirement
- While such courses will not transfer to Antioch, completion of an appropriate course elsewhere may meet this requirement, subject to review by appropriate personnel.
