MEDA 315 Socially Conscious Design
This studio course is a synthesis of techniques, terms, concepts and formal strategies involved in Graphic Design through a single project developed throughout the quarter. This course extends the skills and knowledge gained in ARTS 111: Two-Dimensional Design and VISA/MEDA 215 Just Design: Fundamentals of Graphic Design by walking through the entire design process, from ideation to creation to presentation. Through guided project learning we will design graphics with multiple forms meant to engage and support a real life critical cause. Visual research, Graphic Design Fundamentals, and our own social consciousness will be engaged throughout the design process. In all cases, design will be developed as a means toward expression or the communication of meaning. This course will be taught primarily on the computer with directed learning in the Adobe Creative Suite - specifically Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, and other web design software.
